The PowerMeter sensor is data acquisition sensor designed to acquire current and voltage of a device or a circuit. In particular, the PowerMeter sensor measures the power, the amperage and voltage used by the Lego Mindstorms NXT when running. Data captured are :
- Capacity (in milli-amp per hour)
- Power (in mili-watts)
The PowerMeter sensor can be connected to any of the four connections for sensors located on the Lego Mindstorms NXT Intelligent Brick (do not plug to the motor ports under penalty of scratching) using standard cables for Lego Mindstorms NXT (supplied in the kit or available on this site).
The PowerMeter sensor has four screw-in terminals to connect the probes to the circuit.
In order not to damage this sensor, do not exceed 3A and 13,5V in common use.
The following video show how a PowerMeter sensor can be used to create a multimeter using Lego Mindstorms NXT :
The PowerMeter is programmable using different programming languages
