HiTechnic Sensor Multiplexer for robot Lego Mindstorms
The HiTechnic Sensor Multiplexer, (SMUX), allows you to attach up to four NXT sensors to a single Lego Mindstorms NXT port.
Describing the SMUX sensor multiplexer for Lego Mindstorms NXT
Unlike multiplexers for contact sensors such as touch sensors multiplexer from HiTechnic or the touch sensor multiplexer from Mindsensors, this multiplexer can connect various sensors, not only touch sensors.
The supported sensors are:
- Lego Mindstorms NXT ultrasonic sonar sensor
- Lego NXT light sensor
- Lego Mindstorms NXT contact sensor
- NXT Compass Sensor
- NXT Color Sensor
- Gyroscopic Sensor for Lego Mindstorms NXT
- NXT IRSeeker V2
- NXT Acceleration / Tilt Sensor for Lego Mindstorms NXT
- NXT EOPD sensor
- NXT IRReceiver Sensor
Sensors that are attached to the SMUX multiplexer are powered by a 9V battery (not included)
Programming the SMUX sensor multiplexer for Lego Mindstorms NXT
The SMUX sensor multiplexer for Lego Mindstorms NXT is compliant with NXT-G
New versions of NXT-G programming blocks are required to use the SMUX with NXT-G. These blocks are very similar to the standard sensor blocks but allow you to specify the SMUX port your sensor is attached to in addition to the NXT port connected to the SMUX. Follow this link to go to the Hitechnic web page and download the NXT-G programming block for the SMUX sensor multiplexer.
