Polymorph is a biodegradable plastic with a low melting point (60°C) making it very easy to mold by hand. It allows you to quickly create mechanical parts for your robots or to fix various object.
Polymorph is a polyester (polycaprolactone) which naturally decomposes into CO2 and water, making it a very useful material for biomedical implants. It is also used by many hobbyists all around the world and by professionals alike particularly in the field of robotics. A striking example is the anthropomorphic robot ECCEROBOT in which a large part of the structural elements are made of Polymorph.
Thanks to its low melting point (60°C), using Polymorph does not require any special equipment. The easiest way is to dive the granules inside a bowl of hot water (that you can heat up in a microwave for instance). The granules will then become transparent, indicating that they have reached their melting point. You can then remove them from the water (try not to burn yourself with the hot water). The melted state will last for a few minutes during which you can mold it by hand to any shape you like. Once cooled down, Polymorph becomes tough and stiff (similarly to nylon) and can be processed with standard tools. Originally white, it can be easily colored by introducing powder pigments while it is melted.
