SparkFun Block for Intel® Edison: 8 PWM channels, an added bonus!

The Intel® Edison board has 4 pins (included in its 70-pin I/O connector) capable of supporting a PWM signal. With the SparkFun Block for Intel® Edison, you’ll be able to add 8 new 12-bit PWM channels simply by fitting your stackable block onto the Intel® Edison board.

The PWM SparkFun Block for Intel® Edison communicates with your board via the I2C bus, offering it 8 new PWM outputs for use in standard applications functioning with this type of signal. This block can also be used to control LEDs of up to 25 mA.

More specifically, the SparkFun PWM Block allows your Intel® Edison board to control 8 standard servos. This is because the PWM block is equipped with a PCA9685 circuit and a clock that can be operated at 50 Hz. It can also provide an independent power supply for all servos requiring a level of power higher than that provided by the Intel® Edison board. The PWM block includes 8 connections compatible with all standard hobby servo pinouts.

You can stack up to 32 blocks on top of each other using 6 bridges, which will need to be soldered onto each block.
