Arduino R3 Proto Shield Kit
Arduino R3 Proto Shield: the ultra-compatible prototyping shield!
You’ll never have to worry about whether or not this prototyping shield will adapt to your Arduino breakout board, or to all those wonderful Arduino-compatible shields you’ve acquired. Version R3 of the Arduino Proto Shield is compatible with all sorts of boards, including the Leonardo, the Duemilanove, the Due and the Mega. In short, all boards equipped with standard Arduino headers, and the same applies to shields!
The only tiny problem you might come up against with the Arduino R3 Proto Shield is when using a Yun board or an Arduino fitted with an Ethernet port, in which case the headers provided with this kit will not fit perfectly together. Rest assured, the link will still be established, the ensemble will simply be a little larger and not look quite so “clean”.
Your Proto Shield can be used with small breadboards (sometimes more practical than larger breadboards) and medium-sized solderless breadboards.
Using the Adafruit R3 Proto Shield
The Adafruit R3 Proto Shield Kit is not particularly difficult to assemble, as long as you’re happy to use your soldering iron a little along with a few other tools. If you need help with this, don’t hesitate to take a look at the resources available for this product!
The advantage of the Arduino Proto Shield Kit is that it allows you to choose your preferred configuration for your shield; you have a variety of headers in different sizes, so up to you to decide which are best!
