SparkFun RedBot bumper: a mechanical module for freedom of movement
This SparkFun module for RedBot robotics platform includes a SPST switch, a long metallic wire and all the necessary screws. When the wire bumps into an obstacle, it will make contact with a nut next to it, operating the switch. The connection to the RedBot board is momentarily closed and the motor is turned off. What you get is an obstacle avoidance module that’s easy to connect!
SparkFun RedBot compatible
This mechanical module has a 3-pin header (OUT, 5V, GND) which connects directly to the SparkFun RedBot main board via female to female jumper wires. Use the included code library to set up the module’s parameters with perfect precision, for an even more autonomous robotised vehicle. The use of mechanical bumpers with RedBot is described under experiment #5 of your experimentation guide (link in the Resources section below).
