ROS 2 R&D Kit
An R&D kit designed by Generation Robots
Designed for laboratories, engineering schools and R&D teams, this kit helps you quickly start projects involving autonomous navigation, SLAM, perception or mobile manipulation robotics.
Mechanical
Integration of the components onto the mobile base
Electrical
Connection of all equipment together
Software
Installation of the ROS packages for the components
Navigation
Autonomous navigation stack, available as an option
What you avoid:
- No wiring to design between components
- No manual installation of ROS / ROS 2 drivers
- Less time spent on technical integration
- Fewer risks of incompatibility between sensors and software
- Field tests launched faster
The kit is compatible with mobile bases from AgileX Robotics, Clearpath Robotics and Husarion.
Software setup: OS, ROS and VNC installation
Beyond electronic and mechanical integration, we also take care of the software part of the kit:
- OS installation (Linux Ubuntu)
- ROS / ROS 2 integration and installation of the required packages
- Remote access via NoVNC directly from a browser
- Real-time monitoring of the PC and sensors
- Deployment with Docker to simplify installations and updates
- Complete URDF model for simulation and testing

Go further: mobile navigation and manipulation

The ROS 2 R&D bundles can be upgraded to mobile manipulation robotics configurations, with the optional integration of the PiPER robotic arm from AgileX Robotics.
This configuration combines autonomous navigation, perception and interaction with the environment to prototype advanced scenarios: object picking, algorithm testing, automated measurement campaigns or real-world use case validation.
This approach was notably implemented with the Zephyr project for ETH Zurich: an autonomous mobile base developed by GR Lab, equipped with a robotic arm carrying a smartphone to automatically measure indoor/outdoor signal quality while precisely recording its position.
