This infrared signal sensor from HiTechnic was specially designed for the LEGO Mindstorms NXT and EV3 robot. As its name suggests, it can detect infrared light sources like sunlight or infrared emitters such as television remote controls or the famous IR HiTechnic ball to play soccer with your robot!

This IRSeeker V2 sensor has two detection modes:
- Modulated mode (AC mode), which detects modulated infrared light, ie from artificial sources such as remote controls or the famous IR Ball from Hitechnic. The sensor can detect 1200 Hz square signals
- Unmodulated mode (DC mode) that can detect infrared unmodulated light sources like natural light or light from a fire
The particular shape of the sensor limits disruptions by interfering signals. Its internal signal processing capacity allows it to receive only the desired signal.
