This entry was posted in Comparisons, tests and products presentation on by Vanessa Mazzari.

YDLIDAR is a Chinese company specializing in the design of LiDAR sensors. Founded in 2016, the brand quickly distinguished itself in the market thanks to the quality of its products and their affordable prices. The YDLIDAR sensors find applications in various fields such as robotics, surveillance, mapping, autonomous navigation, and virtual reality. Offering a diverse range, YDLIDAR caters to the needs of diverse clientele, from enthusiasts to professionals, by providing high-resolution and high-performance options.

The Triangulation Range

The LiDARs from the Gx and Xx series are 360° 2D LiDARs based on triangulation. This method relies on geometry and angle calculations to accurately determine the distance between the LiDAR and an object in its field of view. Inexpensive, they offer ultra-high-range accuracy at short distances with maximum ranges of 8m to 16m and a scan frequency of up to 18,000 Hz. Compact in size, they can be used for service robots, industrial AGVs, domestic robots, and vacuum robots.

The Time of Flight (ToF) Range

Ydlidar’s Time of Flight technology ensures precise measurement of the time laser pulses reach objects and return to the sensor. This results in real-time data capture, providing an instantaneous perception of the environment. With high resistance to ambient light interference, Ydlidar ToF series 2D LiDARs are suitable for outdoor robots for mapping and obstacle avoidance. With an IP65/IP67 protection rating, they are suitable for facing complex outdoor environments. The maximum range can reach 50m, and the scanning frequency is 30,000 Hz.
