The Grove barometer module is fitted with an HP206C chip, offering extremely reliable accuracy over a wide measuring range: 300–1200 mbar. This pressure detector is capable of determining altitude to the nearest 10 cm, while guaranteeing very low consumption of the order of 1100 µA!
The HP206C chip should normally be powered using a voltage of between 1.8 and 3.6 V. It is however possible to add an external circuit to make the module compatible with higher voltages (3.3 or 5 V).
Thanks to its I²C communication port, the Grove barometer module can be connected directly to a microcontroller. It is also compatible with Arduino, Seeeduino and Seeeduino Stalker boards.
Its extreme accuracy and characteristics make it ideal for measuring not only temperature but also barometric pressure. So it’s the ideal choice for creating a weather station or robots for outdoor use. Its small size also means it can be fitted into a DIY sports watch or a navigation aid system.
