It’s hard to create a functional project worthy of the name when the modules used require a different voltage level to that delivered by your board. Fortunately, there are voltage regulators to overcome this problem!
This one, designed by SparkFun, has everything you’ll need. The BOB-12009 level converter is just as efficient at stepping up as at stepping down the supply voltage as needed. And it also works with 1.8 and 2.8V devices!

A truly easy-to-use level converter
The 5V/3.3V Bi-Directional Level Converter has 4 high voltage pins (HV1, 2, 3 and 4) and 4 low voltage pins (LV1, 2, 3 and 4) allowing you to easily step up or step down the voltage level on the same channel.
Connecting it to your electronics board is child’s play: power the BOB-12009 module with your board’s 3.3 and 5V pins by connecting them to the HV and LV pins, and by connecting your board’s GND pin to the GND pin of the converter.
