A new sensor for more possibilities.

Like its predecessor, the Pixy CMUcam5 camera sensor, the Pixy2 V2.1 sensor is compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

This sensor works in a very simple way: it only detects the images you need and sends the corresponding data to your processor via 6 different channels: UART? SPI, I2C, USB, digital or analog!

If you wonder how this camera sensor detects these images, nothing simpler, it uses the principle of color recognition! This sensor can detect and record up to 7 different colors, numbered from 1 to 7, the first being the default color. To record the following colors, simply pass the object you want to be recognized in front of the object lens (a yellow ball, for example) while pressing the button at the top of the camera.

After completing this small manipulation, your camera will be able to recognize and track all objects whose color has been memorized. With its new “line detection” mode, your Pixy2 V2.1 camera sensor will allow your robot to follow a traced path, like a line on a sheet of paper for example, it can even decode the road signs!

Unlike its first version, the Pixy2 V2.1 is smaller but faster (60 frames per second instead of 50). Charmed Labs also worked on the PixyMon software to make it more intuitive and responsive. They also have improved their Arduino and Raspberry Pi libraries by adding examples to make them more understandable and to extend their functionality. The Pan Tilt kit has also been redesigned to be smaller and faster.

it might be me, but getting the camera to work with my servo's for a pan/tilt system is not quite as easy as I expected. Camera object recognition is OK but servo control is peculiar.
