A quadruped designed for industrial and outdoor environments

The Unitree A2 combines a compact footprint with terrain-oriented mechanics. Its chassis and 12 joint motors enable dynamic locomotion, including on slopes, stairs, and obstacles. The platform supports a high payload: up to 25 kg during continuous walking and around 100 kg as a standing load.

For perception and navigation, the standard version integrates 1 LiDAR and an HD camera, with obstacle avoidance, point cloud capture, and video streaming capabilities. Connectivity (including RS485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 Type-C) supports integration of additional modules and sensors.

Two variants are available: A2 Standard and A2 Pro.

The A2 Pro version notably adds a second LiDAR, GPS/4G options, SLAM capabilities (mapping and autonomous navigation), as well as an IP67 protection rating for the sensors and the onboard PC.

For battery life, the robot uses a dual-battery (hot-swappable) system: up to around 5 hours and 20 km without a load, and around 3 hours / 12.5 km with a load. OTA updates and support for secondary development make it possible to adapt the platform to specific scenarios.

Use cases: inspection, logistics, data collection, and field experimentation

The Unitree A2 is intended for teams that need a stable mobile base for sensors and payloads, with the ability to access hard-to-reach areas.

  • Industrial inspection: patrols, equipment monitoring, measurements in complex areas (stairs, slopes, uneven floors).
  • Outdoor inspection: movement on rough terrain, obstacle crossing, visual and 3D data capture via LiDAR + camera.
  • Logistics and payload transport: moving equipment (up to 25 kg during continuous walking), support for on-site operations.
  • Mapping and autonomous navigation (depending on version/option): SLAM, trajectories, and sensor-based navigation.
  • Research & development: a platform for locomotion, perception, and control testing, plus sensor/software integration via CAN/RS485/Ethernet interfaces.
  • Data collection: point cloud recording, HD video, repeatable measurement campaigns.
