You will not regret having chosen the Mini version over a standard Arduino board. It’s based on an Atmega328 microcontroller and has 14 inputs/outputs, including 6 PWM outputs and 8 analogue inputs. The Arduino Mini 05 board is also fitted with a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a TTL RS connection, an ICSP connector, and lastly a reset button.
On this version of the Mini Arduino, the microcontroller is preloaded with an STK500 bootloader. But you can also bypass the bootloader to use your board with ICSP “in-circuit” serial programming.
Note : Programming the Mini 05 requires a USB-serial, USB-TTL serial, or RS232 TTL serial adaptor.
For the new version of its Mini board, Arduino has chosen to keep the really good ideas in version 04, while giving the new revision a more powerful microcontroller: the Atmega328 instead of the Atmega168. Yet you keep the same pin-out, while gaining a very handy reset button! The Mini 05 also makes it easier to implement your circuits by allowing you to fit all your components on the top of the board!
