Scout Mini + ROS 2 R&D Kit: the ready-to-use platform

The Scout Mini + ROS 2 R&D Kit Pack is designed for teams that want to quickly test their mobile robotics algorithms without going through a long hardware and software integration phase. The GR Lab prepares a complete platform for you based on the 4×4 UGV AgileX Scout Mini and a fully configured ROS 2 R&D Kit.

As soon as the system arrives, the onboard computer running Ubuntu + ROS 2 is ready, the sensors are integrated, the drivers installed and remote access via VNC already configured. You can focus on your nodes, scripts and test scenarios instead of wiring.

Pack benefits

  • You speed up the prototyping phase: the platform arrives already assembled, wired and configured.
  • You reduce technical issues: a single integrator (GR Lab) handles mechanics, electronics and software.
  • You can focus on research and development: navigation, SLAM, perception, sensor fusion, etc.
  • You have a single point of contact for support if you evolve the configuration (adding sensors, changing the software stack, etc.).

What you get

1) Mobile base: AgileX Scout Mini

The Scout Mini is a compact 4×4 mobile base designed for confined environments, laboratories and indoor/outdoor demonstrators. Its kinematics allow it to turn on the spot (almost zero turning radius) and manoeuvre in corridors, workshops or test areas with limited space.

  • 4×4 electric platform providing good traction on various surfaces.
  • Compact form factor suitable for test benches, project rooms, teaching and R&D platforms.
  • Rocker-arm suspension to filter terrain irregularities and stabilise perception.
  • Agility & performance:
  • Payload: 10 kg
  • Climbing capability: 30°
  • Maximum obstacle height: 70 mm
  • Max. range: 20 km
  • Max. speed: 10 km/h
  • Protection rating: IP22

2) ROS 2 R&D Kit (GR Lab integration)

The ROS 2 R&D Kit eliminates weeks of integration. GR Lab engineers mount the sensors, wire and configure the system, then install the OS (Linux Ubuntu), ROS 2 and the component packages.

  • Mechanical: component integration on the mobile base
  • Electrical: wiring and interconnection of all equipment
  • Software: installation and configuration of ROS 2 packages for the components
  • Remote access: VNC deployment (remote monitoring/control of the onboard computer via a dedicated page)
  • OS: Linux Ubuntu installation + ROS 2 development environment

Delivered turnkey: upon receipt, plug in, power on and code. No need to build the software infrastructure beforehand.

3) Add the PiPER robotic arm

We offer, as an option, the addition of the PiPER robotic arm from AgileX Robotics on our ROS 2 R&D bundles based on AgileX mobile platforms.

This configuration makes it possible to combine mobile navigation and manipulation, ideal for prototyping complete mobile–manipulator robotics scenarios (object grasping, interaction with the environment, testing advanced algorithms, etc.).

Who is it for?

Universities, laboratories, R&D centers, and innovation teams looking to prototype fast and validate better: autonomous navigation, SLAM, perception/sensor fusion, inspection & security on industrial or logistics sites, demonstrators, and mobile robotics education.
