This sensor can measure a rotation like the encoders included in the interactive servomotors Lego Mindstorms NXT. The difference is that on one hand, this sensor has a very low friction, virtually non-existent and secondly, it is placed directly on the axis of rotation and is therefore less sensitive to disturbances caused by inherent friction on wheels.

Rotation properties measured by the Angle Sensor
The Angle Sensor enables you to measure three rotation properties:
- Absolute Angle – the rotation position of a rotating axle from 0 – 359 degrees with 1 degree accuracy
- Accumulated angle - the accumulated number of degrees an axle has rotated
- Rotation Speed - the speed of the axle rotation in RPM (revolutions per minute)
This sensor is ideal for making a robot where the measure of rotation of a shaft or axle with high precision is required.

This block can read the angle of rotation and also identifies a range of angles to trigger an action.
