What is an electromagnet?
An electromagnet is a device that produces a magnetic field when powered by an electric current. It works just like a traditional magnet, by attracting metal objects.
But an electromagnet offers the advantage of ceasing to be magnetic when the current is switched off. So it can be turned on and off like an electrical appliance.
Why equip the Niryo Ned robot arm with an electromagnet?
Thanks to its EasyConnect system, the Niryo Ned 6-axis educational robot arm can swap tools to handle various kinds of objects and exert a different action on them. For example you can install different-sized grippers, or a vacuum pump to pick up certain objects with suction and move them around.
This Niryo electromagnet is ideal for picking up very small metal objects, which is something that other accessories cannot necessarily do, even a precision gripper.
